A Welcoming Statement
Let’s talk about curb appeal today. I am sure many of you have seen the show on HGTV where they go to a house and turn the front of the home into something absolutely fabulous and generally, I am sure, with a great amount of money. All About Bronze
Bronze is a pretty amazing metal. This combination of copper and tin is a strong, durable metal that is favored for marine parts as well as other outdoor applications. Bronze is beautiful and lasting, which is why it is the material of choice for plaques and hardware. And, of course, it holds quite a history. From about 3300 BC to 1200 BC, between the Stone Age and the Iron Age, the Bronze Age reigned. During this time, copper and bronze were used as the main materials for manufacturing implements and weapons. Since then, many historic and beautiful pieces, such as the Statue of Liberty, have embraced this alloy.
Other elements, such as phosphor and lead, are sometimes added to the mix to give the alloy certain properties. Bronze tends to include 85-95% copper and 5-15% another metal. The simplest form combines copper and tin for a stronger, more wear-resistant metal than copper alone. When copper is combined with phosphor, it makes for an even harder metal that’s even more resistant to wear. This alloy has a reddish-gold color and is used for things like springs and bolts that require resistance to corrosion and fatigue.

Searching for a house when you can’t find the house numbers
Take a walk down your street, or even a drive will do and tell me how many house numbers you able to read or how many you can even find? Now take the same drive or walk at night and you will find it is even more difficult to find the house numbers on the house you are looking for.
House numbers are very important and serve a definite purpose. Not only are they important if you are expecting a friend, but they are absolutely essential for emergency vehicles. Just think, if you had a fire at your house, or if you needed the paramedics and there was no designator on your house such as house numbers they may not get to your house in time. There are some communities that require by code a certain size house number so that is an important part of the whole process and it would be a very good idea to check with your local fire department and homeowners association to find out what the rules and restrictions are regarding your house numbers. Mail carriers need the house number on your house also. Years ago we moved into a brand new house and put up the required rural type mail box (You know, the ugly silver one…) and we did not have house numbers yet although we did have them on our mailbox. The mailman would NOT deliver mail to our house until I had satisfied the post office requirement by putting house numbers on my house.
